Etymology: < classical Latin plaus-, past participial stem of plaudere plaud v. + -ive suffix. Compare earlier plausible adj. N.E.D. (1907) gives only the pronunciation (plǭ·siv) /ˈplɔːsɪv/.
Now rare.
