Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin pītuītōsus.
Etymology: < classical Latin pītuītōsus (see pituitose adj.); compare -ous suffix. Compare Middle French, French pituiteux (1538).With pituitousness n. at Derivatives compare earlier pituosity n. N.E.D. (1907) gives only the pronunciation (pitiū·itəs) /pɪˈtjuːɪtəs/.
