1881 H. Watts Dict. Chem. VIII. 1699 R. Buchheim..obtained a crystalline substance, pyrethrin, which melted at the heat of the body, and was resolved by alcoholic potash into pyrethric acid and piperidine.

1964 N. G. Clark Mod. Org. Chem. xxiii. 470 On heating a pyridine solution of the aldehyde with malonic acid in presence of piperidine (catalyst), condensation and decarboxylation occur, and a cinnamic acid is produced.
