Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French pincé.
Etymology: < French pincé (1768 as noun in sense C., 1829 or earlier as adjective in sense A.), uses as noun and adjective respectively of pincé , past participle of pincer to pinch, pluck (see pinch v.). In sense B. apparently use as adverb of French pincé (noun) pizzicato (1869 in Littré; adverbial use is apparently not recorded in dictionaries of French).
