Etymology: < classical Latin pinniger feathered, winged, having fins ( < pinna feather, wing, fin (see pinna n.2) + -ger : see -gerous comb. form) + -ous suffix. Compare (in different sense) pennigerous adj.
Obsolete. rare. Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
= pinniferous adj. at pinni- comb. form 1; cf. pennigerous adj.
