Etymology: < phreat- (in phreatic adj.) + -o- connective + magmatic adj. Compare German phreatomagmatisch (1977 or earlier).
Geology.
Designating or relating to a volcanic eruption in which both steam from groundwater and an aerosol of magmatic gases and particles are expelled.
