Origin: A borrowing from Greek. Etymon: Greek ϕρατριακός.
Etymology: < Hellenistic Greek ϕρατριακός of or relating to a kinship group, used with reference to the divisions of the three ancient Roman tribes (see curia n.) < ancient Greek ϕρατρία phratry n. + -ακός -ac suffix. Compare earlier phratric adj.
Now rare.
