Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: photo- comb. form, -chromy comb. form.
Etymology: < photo- comb. form + -chromy comb. form. In sense 1 probably after French photochromie (1868 or earlier in this sense); compare German Photochromie (1868 or earlier in a work-title). Compare photochrome n.In sense 3 after French photochromie (1950 in the source translated in quot. 1951 at sense 3). Compare photochromism n.
