Origin: Formed within English, by compounding; modelled on a German lexical item. Etymons: phono- comb. form, -metric comb. form.
Etymology: < phono- comb. form + -metric comb. form, after German phonometrisch (1893 in the passage translated in quot. 1895; in quot. 1938 and later use, after use in German by E. Zwirner (1935 or earlier)). Compare French phonométrique (dated 1836 in Robert Dict. alphabétique et analogique (1986)). Compare earlier phonometer n.
Of or relating to a phonometer or phonometry.
