Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin physagogus.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin physagogus (see physagogal adj.). Compare earlier physagogal adj. N.E.D. (1906) gives the pronunciation as (fəi·săgǫg) /ˈfaɪsəɡɒɡ/.
Medicine. Obsolete. rare. Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.

Having the property of relieving flatulence; carminative. Cf. earlier physagogal adj.
