Etymology: < phylo- comb. form + -logical comb. form.An occurrence of the form phylological in a transcript of a lecture given by S. T. Coleridge in 1819 appears to be an error for physiological: see S. T. Coleridge Lect. 1818–19 Hist. Philos. (2000) II. Apparently A. 692.
