Origin: A borrowing from Greek. Etymon: Greek ϕιλοστοργία.
Etymology: < ancient Greek ϕιλοστοργία tender love, affection < ϕιλόστοργος loving tenderly, affectionate, frequently of family affection ( < ϕιλο- philo- comb. form + στοργή storge n.) + -ία -y suffix3. Compare post-classical Latin philostorgia (a1536 in Erasmus), Middle French philostorgie (1546 in a translation of Plutarch), Italian †philostorgia (1598 in Florio, but apparently not recorded elsewhere in dictionaries of Italian).
Now archaic and rare.
