Etymology: < post-classical Latin perturbator person who disturbs (4th cent.) < classical Latin perturbāt- , past participial stem of perturbāre perturb v. + -or -or suffix; probably partly via Middle French perturbateur (1418; French perturbateur ). Compare Catalan pertorbador (1561 as perturbador ), Spanish pertubador (1483), Italian perturbatore (a1472). Compare earlier perturber n.With perturbator of (the) peace compare post-classical Latin perturbator pacis (frequently c1180–1586 in British sources).
