Origin: Formed within English, by compounding; modelled on a Latin lexical item. Etymons: pharmaco- comb. form, -logy comb. form.
Etymology: < pharmaco- comb. form + -logy comb. form, after post-classical Latin pharmacologia (W. Harris Pharmacologia anti-empirica (1683)). Compare French pharmacologie (1738 in sense 1; sense 2 is apparently not attested in French).
