Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French persienne.
Etymology: < French persienne Persian blind (1752; 1732 in sense ‘kind of material’), use as noun of feminine of persien Persian adj. Compare earlier Persian n. 7 and slightly later persiana n. 2.
In singular and (usually) plural. An outside window-shutter or blind, made of light movable slats fastened horizontally in a frame; a Persian blind. Cf. persiana n. 2.
