Origin: Apparently a borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: Latin acceptativus , -ness suffix.
Etymology: Apparently < post-classical Latin acceptativus (1612 or earlier; < classical Latin acceptāt- , past participial stem of acceptāre accept v. + -īvus -ive suffix) + -ness suffix.acceptative is very occasionally attested in English, but only later than the examples of acceptativeness.
Obsolete. rare.
