a1677 I. Barrow Wks. (1683) II. 152 S. Paul's precept to Christians, that they should be τῇ ϕιλαδελϕίᾳ εἰς ἀλλήλους ϕιλόστοργοι... that charity, which in respect to others is called philanthropy..in regard to them is named philadelphy (or brotherly affection).
