Chemistry.

A violet-red, crystalline, heteroaromatic compound, C₁₂H₉NO, whose tricyclic molecule contains two benzene rings joined by an oxygen atom and an imino group, and which is used in the preparation of oxazine dyes; any of a class of compounds whose molecules contain this structure.
