1965 C. de Duve in Jrnl. Cell Biol. 27 25 a The name peroxisome is proposed for the microbodies of rat liver and for the particles of similar biochemical nature existing in kidney and in Tetrahymena pyriformis. The peroxisomes contain large amounts of catalase and several hydrogen peroxide-producing oxidases.
1992 C. A. Smith & E. J. Wood Biosynthesis ii. 39 The glycollate is then transported to peroxisomes where the action of glycollate oxidase produces glyoxylate.
1999 New Phytologist 141 243/1 Mitochondria and peroxisomes were obtained from pea leaves by differential and density-gradient centrifugation.
