Etymology: < German Perowskit (G. Rose 1839, in Ann. der Physik u. Chemie 48 558) < the name of Lev Alekseevič Perovskij (1792–1856; also transliterated Perofski , Perovski , Perowski ), Russian statesman + German -it -ite suffix1. Compare Russian perovskit. N.E.D. (1905) entered this under perofskite, with the pronunciation (pĕrǫ·fskəit) /pəˈrɒfskaɪt/.
Mineralogy.
1.
