Origin: A borrowing from German. Etymon: German Phantastica.
Etymology: < German Phantastica (1924 in the title of the work translated in quot. 1931) < ancient Greek ϕανταστικός having the ability to produce appearances (see fantastic adj.; compare -a suffix2), after Narcotica (see narcotic n.), Excitantia (see excitant n.), etc.
With plural agreement. Hallucinogenic drugs. Also occasionally with singular agreement.
