释义

permixedadj.

Brit. /pəˈmɪkst/, U.S. /pərˈmɪkst/
Forms: Middle English permixte, Middle English–1600s permixt, 1500s 1900s– permixed.
Origin: Of multiple origins. Partly a borrowing from Latin. Partly formed within English, by derivation. Partly a variant or alteration of another lexical item. Etymons: Latin permixtus ; per- prefix, mixed adj.2; permix v.
Etymology: Originally < classical Latin permixtus, past participle of permiscēre to mix thoroughly, intermingle ( < per- per- prefix + miscēre to mix: see mixed adj.2). In later use partly re-formed < per- prefix + mixed adj.2, and partly re-interpreted as past participle of permix v. (compare -ed suffix1). Compare Italian †permisto (a1327). Compare commixed adj., mixed adj.2
Now rare.
