释义

Perlonn.

Brit. /ˈpəːlɒn/, U.S. /ˈpərlɑn/
Forms: also with lower-case initial.
Origin: A borrowing from German. Etymon: German Perlon.
Etymology: < German Perlon (although this is apparently first attested slightly later: 1949, but see etymological note, and compare quot. 1941), probably < Perl- (of unknown origin) + -on (in Nylon nylon n., Rayon rayon n.3, etc.). Compare French perlon (1949 or earlier), Italian perlon (1942).Perlon was invented in Germany in 1938 by Paul Schlack (1897–1987), chemist and textile researcher. Several German sources claim that the fibre was initially called Perluran and this was later changed to Perlon, but it has not been possible to verify this.
