As adjective < French périgourdin of or relating to the gastronomic specialities associated with Périgord (1938; also as noun in à la périgourdine ), specific use of périgourdin of or relating to Périgord (earliest as noun in Middle French in form perigordin dialect spoken in the Périgord region (1580), inhabitant of the Périgord region (1588)) < the name of Périgord (see Perigord n.) + French -in -ine suffix1.
