1879 E. D. Cope Origin Fittest (1887) i. vi. 229 The Dynamic Theory of reproduction I proposed in 1871, and it has been since adopted by Haeckel under the name of perigenesis.
1886 Science 6 Aug. 128/1 Haeckel's perigenesis is..the substitution of rhythmical vibrations for the different kinds of gemmules.
1922 Science 3 Nov. 518/1 E. Haeckel described such a process of growth as the perigenesis of the plastidules though perigenesis as described by Haeckel is not referred to by Muller.
1973 Science 27 July 336/3 Subsequent chapters on..Haeckel's theory of perigenesis give unusual breadth to this chapter.
