Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: per- prefix, fluid adj.
Etymology: < per- prefix + fluid adj., after perfluency n. In quot. 1856 rendering Welsh toddaid , here used attributively (see perfluency n.). Compare post-classical Latin perfluidus that flows freely (c1190 in a British source). Compare earlier (in different sense) perfluent adj.
Prosody. Obsolete. rare.
In the terminology of J. Williams: designating the word or words that follow the rhyme-word in the first line of the perfluency. See perfluency n.

1856 J. Williams tr. Anc. Gram. Edeyrn §1761 The perfluency consists of nineteen syllables, having two homœorythms in the stave, with a perfluid word [Welsh gair toddaid], like the recurrent word of a direct homœorythm systich, ending on the tenth syllable; the last verse of the perfluid stanza [Welsh pennill toddaid] is always nine syllables long.
