1961 Lancet 16 Sept. 622/2 It seems probable that pheniprazine was the cause of the jaundice; the total dose was 560 mg. given over sixty days.
1971 L. E. Hollister in K. L. Melmon & H. F. Morrelli Clin. Pharmacol. (1972) xi. 459/1 The first hydrazide drug was iproniazid... A later member of the series was pheniprazine (Catron). Both have subsequently been removed from the market because of intolerable toxicity.
2002 Neurochem. Internat. 40 578/2 A number of other agents are less clearly established as toxic to the optic nerve. These include carbon disulfide, pheniprazine, quinine, and thallium.
