Etymology: < peri- prefix + ancient Greek Κύνθιον (neuter of Κύνθιος (adjective) of or associated with Mount Cynthus < Κύνθος Mount Cynthus on Delos, the birthplace of Artemis, goddess frequently associated with the moon + -ιος , suffix forming adjectives; compare Cynthia n.), after perihelion n. Compare apocynthion n.
