Etymology: < Anglo-Norman perer, peirer (13th cent.; compare Old French perier (c1150), Middle French, French poirier ) < peire pear n. + -er -er suffix2. Compare earlier perry n.1, pear tree n.Attested earlier in surnames, Ricardus del perer (1222), Ricardus Perur (1235), Alexander le Perer (1301), although it is unclear whether these are to be interpreted as reflecting the Anglo-Norman or the Middle English word.
Obsolete.
