Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin perennitās.
Etymology: < classical Latin perennitās the quality of existing for a long time < perennis (see perennial adj.) + -tās (see -ty suffix1; compare -ity suffix). Compare Middle French perennité permanence (1542 in Rabelais as perannité; 1175 in Old French in an apparently isolated attestation in sense ‘eternity’; French pérennité).
The state or quality of being perennial; permanence, perpetuity.
