Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: peloria n., -ic suffix.
Etymology: < peloria n. + -ic suffix. Compare slightly later pelorian adj. at peloria n. Derivatives.R. G. Mayne (see quot. 1857) gives a Latin form peloricus. N.E.D. (1904) enters peloric under peloria and gives only the pronunciation (pĭlǫ·rik) /pəˈlɒrɪk/.
Botany.
Of the nature of or characterized by peloria.The association of the word with size in quot. 1857 seems to represent a misunderstanding.
