Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French pardurer.
Etymology: < Anglo-Norman and Middle French pardurer, perdurer (12th cent. in Anglo-Norman as present participle; French perdurer ) < classical Latin perdūrāre to continue, endure, persist, last < per- per- prefix + dūrāre dure v. Compare Old Occitan perdurar (undated; Occitan perdurar), Spanish perdurar (late 14th cent.), Italian perdurare (1341–2).
intransitive. To continue, endure; to persist; to last forever.
