释义 | Pavian. Now rare (chiefly Horticulture). Originally: the red buckeye, Aesculus pavia. Later: a genus (now usually regarded as a section of the genus Aesculus) comprising buckeyes having flowers with four petals and fruits with smooth rather than prickly capsules. Also: a tree or shrub of this kind.Valid publication of the genus name: P. Miller Gardeners Dict.: Abridged (ed. 4, 1754), after Boerhaave. Linnaeus (1753) used the name as a specific epithet in the genus Aesculus.
