Origin: A borrowing from Greek, combined with an English element. Etymons: Greek πεδίον , -cratic comb. form.
Etymology: < ancient Greek πεδίον a plain (see pedion n.) + -cratic comb. form (compare quot. 1924). Compare orocratic adj., anorogenic adj.
Geology. Now rare.
Characterized by an overall lessening of relief as a result of erosion predominating over crustal upheaval.
