1922 Amer. Jrnl. Sci. 203 200 The real patronite is a black mineral of fine grain and metallic luster. In polished section it is shown to consist of a very fine-grained mixture of three minerals.

1946 J. R. Partington Gen. & Inorg. Chem. xxi. 644 Vanadium is widely distributed, the principal ores being carnotite.., vanadinite.., and especially the impure sulphide patronite found at 17,000 ft. in the Peruvian Andes and in North Rhodesia.

1984 N. N. Greenwood & A. Earnshaw Chem. of Elements (1986) xxii. 1139 One of its most important minerals is the polysulfide, patronite, VS₄.
