单词 pece
释义

pecen.

Forms: Middle English peace, Middle English pease, Middle English pees, Middle English pese, Middle English piece, Middle English pyese, Middle English pyse, Middle English–1500s pece, 1500s peece; Scottish pre-1700 pece, pre-1700 peece, pre-1700 peice, pre-1700 peis, pre-1700 peiss, pre-1700 pes, pre-1700 pessis (plural), pre-1700 peys, pre-1700 piece. N.E.D. (1904) also records a form late Middle English pyece.
Origin: Either (i) a borrowing from Latin. Or (ii) a variant or alteration of another lexical item. Etymons: Latin pecia ; piece n.
Etymology: Either < post-classical Latin pecia piece of plate, vessel (from 1202 in British sources; probably a specific use of pecia piece, fragment: see piece n.), or a variant of piece n. (compare later piece of plate at piece n. 7).In other uses, post-classical Latin pecia corresponds to French pièce (see piece n.); but French pièce is apparently not recorded in the sense ‘cup’, ‘vase’. For the sense ‘? a wine-cask or butt’ recorded in N.E.D. (1904) s.v. see piece n. 4b.
Obsolete.
A cup, esp. a wine-cup; a dish or bowl (used as a drinking-vessel).
