Origin: A borrowing from Panjabi. Etymon: Panjabi paṭkā.
Etymology: < Panjabi paṭkā, vernacular form of Sanskrit paṭṭikā, diminutive of paṭṭa strip of cloth, turban.
A small piece of cloth wrapped about the head and tied in a topknot to form a light head-covering less formal than a turban, worn esp. by young Sikhs.
