Etymology: < patho- comb. form + -genetic comb. form, perhaps after German pathogenetisch (1829 or earlier). Compare French pathogénétique (1838), post-classical Latin pathogeneticus (1837 or earlier). Compare later pathogenesis n., pathogenesy n.
Medicine and Biology.
Of or relating to pathogenesis. Also: producing disease, pathogenic.
