Origin: Formed within English, by derivation; perhaps modelled on an Italian lexical item. Etymons: paste n., -osity suffix.
Etymology: < paste n. + -osity suffix, perhaps after Italian pastosità pastiness (1657). Compare impasto n. and earlier pastiness n.
