Etymology: < the name of Enrique Paschen (1860–1936), Mexican-born German bacteriologist, who described the particles ( Münch. med. Wochenschr. (1906) 4 Dec. 2391) + body n.
Pathology. Now rare.
Any of numerous inclusion bodies in the cytoplasm of skin cells in cases of smallpox, cowpox, and monkeypox, now thought to be aggregates of poxvirus particles. Usually in plural.
