Etymology: < Urdu pasandā preparation of pounded pieces of meat < Urdu pasand and its etymon Persian pasand , pisand (noun) approbation, choice, (adjective) excellent ( < pasandan to approve, to chose), after phrases like Urdu pasandõ kā kabāb meat dish made of excellent things (compare kebab n.).

A north Indian dish consisting of slices of meat (traditionally lamb or kid), beaten thin and cooked in a rich sauce made with tomatoes, yogurt, cream, and often almonds; (also) the sauce itself. Frequently as postmodifier.
