Etymology: < Tagalog pasalubong, literally ‘something (intended) for the welcoming’ < pa-, prefix forming nouns denoting an object relating to the action specified in the second element + salubong to meet, to welcome.
Philippine English.
A gift or souvenir given to a friend or relative by a person who has returned from a trip or arrived for a visit.
