1. Among the people of Strasburg in ‘Slawkenbergius's Tale’ in the novel The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy: a supporter of the view that the stranger's nose (which is the object of widespread speculation) is made of parchment, as opposed to some other substance (see quot. 1761).
