Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin acaudatus.
Etymology: < scientific Latin acaudatus (1760 or earlier in botanical, 1762 or earlier in zoological use) < a- a- prefix6 + caudatus caudate adj. N.E.D. (1884) gives the pronunciation as (ăkǭ·deit) /əˈkɔːdeɪt/.

Tailless, acaudal; spec. = anuran adj.
