单词 parure
释义

paruren.

Brit. /pəˈrʊə/, U.S. /pəˈrʊ(ə)r/

Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French parure.
Etymology: < Anglo-Norman and Old French parure (12th cent. in sense ‘peel, rind’, c1230 as pareure in sense ‘adornment’) < parer pare v.1 + -ure -ure suffix1. In sense 3 reborrowed < French parure (1694 in this sense). Compare post-classical Latin paratura parature n., also denoting ornament, adornment (Vetus Latina, Tertullian), especially ecclesiastical apparel (late 10th cent.), parura ornament, embroidery (frequently from 1220 in British sources). N.E.D. (1904) gives the pronunciation as (parü·r) /paryr/.
