单词 paraschematic
释义

paraschematicadj.

Origin: Formed within English, by derivation; modelled on a German lexical item. Etymons: para- prefix1, schematic adj.
Etymology: < para- prefix1 + schematic adj., after German Paraschematismus (G. Curtius Zur Chronologie der Indogermanischen Sprachforschung (1867) 36), in turn after post-classical Latin paraschematismus (C. A. Lobeck Pathologiae Sermonis Graeci Prolegomena (1843) 5), in turn after Hellenistic Greek παρασχηματισμός. The Greek grammarians use the word to denote a change in the form of a word which does not affect the sense, e.g. the alternative feminine forms δράκων, δράκαινα. Compare also Hellenistic Greek παρασχηματίζειν to transform, to form (a word) by a slight change. N.E.D. (1904) gives the pronunciation as (pæ:răˌskimæ·tik) /ˌpærəskiːˈmætɪk/.
Obsolete. rare.
Formed by a slight change in an existing element.
