Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French passe-passe.
Etymology: < Middle French, French passe-passe (1420 in sense ‘sleight of hand, juggling, skilful deception’, reduplication of passe , imperative of passer pass v., originally as said by conjurors.In phrase tour of passe-passe after Middle French, French tour de passe-passe conjuring trick, feat of trickery (1530).
Obsolete. rare.
Sleight of hand; clever trickery; tour of passe-passe n. Obsolete a feat of skilful deception or trickery.
