Origin: Either (i) formed within English, by derivation. Or (ii) a borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: parody n.2; Latin parodia , -ize suffix.
Etymology: < parody n.2 or its etymon post-classical Latin parodia + -ize suffix. Compare Hellenistic Greek παρῳδεῖν to write by way of parody, and Middle French, French parodier parody v.
1. intransitive. To compose a parody; to turn something into a parody. Now rare.
