Compare palmati- comb. form.Combining with second elements ultimately of Latin origin. Formations are found from the first half of the 19th cent. N.E.D. (1904) gives the pronunciation (pælmēⁱ:to) /pælˌmeɪtəʊ/.

Botany and Zoology. Obsolete. rare.
