Abhandl.) 1 851; < Hellenistic Greek παράδρομος running alongside < ancient Greek παρα- para- prefix¹ + δρόμος course (see -drome comb. form); compare ancient Greek παράδρομα spaces for getting through gaps) + -ic suffix.
